Matt Monarch dove head-first into a 100% raw vegan lifestyle after reading Dr Norman Walker’s classic raw food book ‘Become Younger’. His initial detox and weight loss concerned family and friends, but he was fascinated with this new way of living and persisted. Matt’s interest led him to thoroughly research the many different ideologies in the raw movement and delve into his own experiments. He was most impressed by the work of raw food pioneer and 50 year nutritionist Dr Fred Bisci, PhD. After meeting at a raw food festival in Oregon, Matt and Fred went on to forge a strong friendship together.
After five years of eating a 100% raw food diet, Matt was inspired to write a book called Raw Spirit. He wanted to share information that he thought needed to be out there, reflecting in particular on some of the physical challenges of going raw, along with the amazing shifts he experienced on the spiritual level with this lifestyle. Raw Spirit has become one of the best-selling raw books available: people appreciate Matt’s honest approach and his willingness to discuss aspects of being raw that often go unmentioned. He is committed to the raw lifestyle and passionate about spreading this message of health to others.
Matt is currently the owner of three different health-promoting websites:
This Magickal Child from Michigan farmlands has been performing since age 4 and playing Cosmic Muse even longer. A raw-food-athlete dancing 3 years in the Off-Broadway phenomenon STOMP, Tonya Kay is living proof of what a child raised in love grows up to be.
Tonya Kay has quickly become a household name as well as a cult icon with her appearance as the fruit-eating superhero, Creature, on SciFi’s Who Wants To Be A Superhero, her co-star role as the street racing netcaster, Nitrogurl, on CBS’s NUMB3RS, and her Dominatrix dance performance with mega-hit band, Panic! At The Disco on their most recent national tour. Tonya Kay has been featured in Trace Adkins, Namie Amuro, Rob Zombie and Death Angel music videos and most recently played a drug lord lead in the feature film, 3 Days Gone.
A trained aerial stuntwoman with De La Guarda (Off-Broadway/Las Vegas), it is truely the Creature’s proficiency in oddity-art that sets her apart from other performers. Not only does Tonya Kay have technical acting and professional dance skills, but she also cracks whips with knife-throwing partner, Jack Dagger, flag dances with NYC’s Axis Danz, and is a stilt-dancing company member of Trey Knight’s Stilt World. She has performed her danger arts on stage next to Ellen Degeneres, Margaret Cho and Harry Anderson and was seen by 11 million viewers spinning fire poi in the semi-finals of Simon Cowell’s America’s Got Talent. Tonya Kay teaches the exotic art of fire/poi spinning to you in her newly released instructional/workout dvd How To Spin Poi.
In her performance career, Tonya Kay has danced professionally with the Mark Goodman Tap Company (LA), Peggy Spina Tap Company (NYC), and Deca Dance hip-hop theatre (NYC). She has toured the United Kingdom and United States too many times to count with names such as Kenny Rogers and the Rugrats!, and is the creator of the all-rhytm urban drum circle XTREME RHYTHM THEATRE.
When not on stage, Tonya Kay is a compulsive gypsy, roadtripping this continent in her waste vegetable oil fueled Jetta, seeking out organic farmer’s markets, luxurious bath tubs, and the extra-ordinary experience. It is the Creature’s life passion to push evolution, shape reality, exist in love and go all the way.
Super Goji Girl / Camille Rose
Goji comes from a home where health, spirituality, and the arts where emphasized, she has been a vegetarian/vegan her whole life. She grew up homeschooled, training as a dancer, cellist, actor, a spiritual student of ECKANKAR and lover of life.
Her raw foods life started out when my parents went raw (they were pretty close already) – she was 17. She was the rebellious teenager who wanted nothing to do with it! Fast forward a couple years to living in NYC, just finished school at a conservatory for musical theater, working a waitressing job, and other than enjoying it. She was cosmically aligned to get a job working at Pure Food and Wine, loving that for nearly a year. She then started working for David Wolfe and Sunfood.com, traveling with Sunfood and him for events and adventures all over the place. Goji loves singing, dancing, creating music, creating and wearing the most sustainable clothing ever, spending time with the bees, co-creating and educating with the youth and children, her mom’s food, superhero hiking adventures, goal and intention setting, and jumping in the ocean.
Goji’s mission is to bring superfoods to the people, and to get every youth excited about being a superhero! Current Occupation: Director of David Wolfe’s Hawaii Agricultural Research Center.
What Goji is up to at Raw Spirit:
Holding down David Wolfe’s Sunfood.com booth and showering the people we love with love (and superfoods).
DJ Mixtress Hava
Hava Derby, known as DJ Mixtress Hava to the dancers of Sedona, AZ, has been creating and sharing the community dance celebrations Barefoot Ball and House of Bliss Dance Party for three years. “One of my greatest joys is to offer the space for people to come together, be in their hearts and shake it to music that uplifts them. I call what I share ‘Global Grooves’ and the playlist runs through all the genres from ambient to funk, world fusion to house. I never know ahead of time what I’m going to play at a party..I show up with my mixer and CDs and feed off the energy of the dancers and the vibe in the room..I love to create a high vibration environment where people feel inspired to express their authentic selves and let their freak flags fly!”
Hava is living and loving the raw food lifestyle creekside in Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona. “I’ve gone raw several times over the last 11 years, and this time has been the easiest. There are so many amazing people in the movement who inspire and educate me on how to stay strong and healthy on this diet. In the past, I’ve abandoned the lifestyle because I didn’t have the support and knowledge to do it in a healthy way. There are so many resources, and fellow rawfoodists who help me thrive. I’ve never been much a cook, but I love preparing raw foods; making my own chocolate, kombucha, pates, incorporating superfoods..the variety is endless..and I’m in love with my Vitamix!!
On Sat. Sept. 13th at 9 pm, Mixtress Hava will be presenting a House of Bliss Dance Party at Relics Nightclub. The amazing drummer Three Trees, who will be a part of the Raw Spirit Fest, will be playing along. “Come boogie to the Raw Beats & Global Grooves in celebration of the love and light WE ARE!” firstname.lastname@example.org,
