I made a soup today which my friend Brad finally liked. It had a chickpea miso (“live” cultures) with broccoli, avo, collards, garlic, pepper, sea salt, alkalized water and olive oil. Tres yum. He agreed. But asked, “Why does it have to be so GREEN? Can’t it be purple or orange or something?
Well, I think this is a very good question. Why DOES it have to be so green? One answer is: life force. The green energy of life and living things is good for our bodies, and indicates strength, minerals and heartiness. Greens are eaten by wild vegetarians as their primary food. They are very strong, and not lacking muscles. Two: Green is the color of the Heart Chakra. We are literally opening and healing our hearts, physically and energetically, when we add more GREEN foods. Three: Minerals. Greens are chock-full of these yummy minerals, so needed by our bodies to do all bodily functions. The lack of sugar in the greens plus the dense nutrition allows for our bodies to get really strong, and to begin to make repairs long needed. Thus the proclamations from two of my friends regarding the return of their natural color after spending several months on green smoothies.
The difference between green smoothies and green soups is basically that one is sweet and one is savory. What taste do you want? Simply tailor your blend to your taste-desires of the moment. If you want sweet, add fresh organic fruit to your greens and water and blend. If you want savory, go for some broccoli, avo, salt and spices. All is well!
Green Power! Aho!
