How To Grow Mint
Mint is a very persistent perennial plant which prefers to live in moist soil, with some shade and some sun. As is commonly seen, mint grows very easily, so it is wise to take care as to which part of your garden to plant it in, so it won’t take over other plants. Mint typically grows to 2-3 feet in height, and doesn’t come from a seed. Get some clippings from a neighbors yard, soak them in water until rooted, or get a starter plant from a nursery. Planting in early spring is best. You can “sink” a container or plant the mint in an above ground container if you want to keep it from spreading. Also, different varieties should be placed in different areas to avoid cross polination. To keep plants healthy and strong, it is recommended that you cut your mint low in mid-June and before the first frost. Mint is such a WONDERFUL addition to the diet, adding flavor, zing and freshness to desserts, dressings, sauces and beverages, and is a highly recommended part of the raw vegan diet. Mint is also used to soften any tummy aches.
